L V V Services now offers a fully
mobile vehicle diagnostic service which can diagnose and switch
off abs lights, airbag / SRS lights; engine management lights,
service lights etc.
We are based in Bridgend, South Wales and cover an area from Newport to Swansea along the M4 corridor and the surrounding area.
Why do we need Car Diagnostics Services?
 |
Over the last few years cars have become much
more complex, in an effort to cut emissions and to make cars
more fuel efficient.
One of the consequences of this is a much
heavier reliance on state of the art electronic control systems
throughout the modern motor vehicle some cars have in excess
of 10 electronic control units. |
Year on year the electronics become more complicated and although
modern motor vehicles are quite reliable, modern electrical problems
can be quite complex and it is definitely no longer an area where
the individual should try his or her DIY skills
The consequences of getting it wrong could be expensive at least
and with airbag systems in mind, even lethal if very unlucky!
That is where we come in; using specialist equipment we can diagnose
90% of problems usually within a few minutes
Your vehicle has a diagnostic port usually under
the dash or around the centre console area this is called an EOBD
port.
Car Diagnostics explained
EOBD stands for European On Board Diagnostics.
At the EOBD port we can plug in specialist electronic scan
tools and take information or live data from the various control
units that are in the vehicle.
| |
In the case of a warning light
on your instrument panel we would interrogate that particular
system and reset any fault codes and advise of any problems.
What cars do we do?
We cover a good range of European and Japanese cars and also can diagnose a small number of American cars.
We cover around 90% of vehicles, even more on the engine management
side as the EOBD protocol is an industry standard in Europe.
The EOBD protocol covers engine management systems in an attempt
to cut down on emissions and to make vehicles as fuel efficient
as possible.
What Systems do we cover?
This varies from one vehicle to another but typically we cover
the following systems;
Engine Management Systems
Airbag / SRS Systems
ABS / Traction Control Systems
Air Conditioning Systems
Automatic Transmission Systems
CANbus Systems
Chassis Network Systems
Diesel Management Systems
Immobiliser Systems
Key encode Systems
Service Light Resetting

The CANbus system
Later vehicles have now got a CANbus system which is a complex
digital system that significantly reduces wiring requirements.
Introduced by Bosch the CANbus system is now an international standard
(ISO 11898)
A single pair of cables is all that is required to carry streams
of data to control and operate many different functions of a vehicle
at the same time. We now have a Canbus adaptor for 2 of our scan
tools and programmes are being developed to diagnose these systems.
The CANbus or Control Area Network bus system
Is a high-integrity serial data communications bus for real-time
applications
Operates at data rates of up to 1 Megabits per second
Has excellent error detection and confinement capabilities
Was originally developed by Bosch for use in cars
Is now being used in many other industrial automation and control
applications
Is an international standard: ISO 11898

Controller Area Network (CAN)
